GLOBAL UNIVERSITY INDUSTRY CONGRESS- 2013 |

Prof. (Dr.) Jitender Kumar, HOD, Information Technology Department represented Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon in a two-day International Level Symposium “Global University Industry Congress-2013” held at Hotel Lalit, New Delhi from 7th to 8th November 2013. The symposium was jointly by All India Council of Technical Education (AITCE), New Delhi and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Naushad Forbes, Hon’ble Chairman CII, National Committee on Higher Education & Director Forbes Marshall Private Ltd. His address was followed by the address of Ms. Sushma Berlia, Co-Chairperson, CII National Committee on Higher Education and President, Apeejay Satya Group. She emphasized on the requirement of sustainable workforce. Prof. Y. S. Rajan, Professor ISRO also addressed the gathering and said that Future will be of those who have made friends using science and technology. |
Dr. S.S. Mantha, Hon’ble Chairman AICTE, New Delhi said that the country needs quality engineers and for that, industry support is required at various stages during B.Tech Degree. Mr. Aziz Tayyebi, Head of International Development, ACCA; Dr. Narendra Jadhav, Member Planning Commission, Govt. of India, Dr. K P Isaac, Member Secretary AICTE, Mr. Sanjay Bhrgava, Advisor Bjaj Auto & General Secretary, Shiksha Mandal shared their observations while analyzing the reports of various colleges. |
Hon’ble Chief Guest Mr. Kapil Sibal, Hon’ble Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi He emphasized on investment in children and said that foundation of education needs to be changed. Mr. C R Swaminathan, Co-Chair National Committee on Higher Education & Former Chairman CII Southern region also shared his vision on the future perspectives of technology. An MOU between CII and ACCA has also been signed in the inaugural Session. |
Prof. Rajendra Srivastava, Provost & Deputy President, Singapore Management University on Innovation Management said that Innovation Management is not just a technology but a serious business. Mr. Pawan Agarwal, Adviser (Higher Education), Planning Commission chaired the session wherein the panellists were Mr. Harpreet Singh, Director – University Policy Department of Higher Education, MHRD, Mr. Tony Linden, Lead Education Specialist, World Bank, Mr. Vendamoorthy Namasivayam, Senior Director Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd. and Dr. Avinash Pant, Hon’ble Vice Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi; Dr. P V Mohanram, HOD - Mech, PSG College of Technology and Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Director – College of Engineering, Pune. |
The symposium ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Mohanram and Prof. Sahasrabudhe who expressed the heart-felt gratitude to the Chief-guest, guest speakers and participants. |
