WORKSHOP

Introduction
One day Workshop of all QEEE Coordinators was organized at IIT Madras on 11th April 2015 to get the feedback of Phase-III and to discuss about QEEE Phase - IV. Prof. (Dr.) Jitender Kumar (Academic Administrator), QEEE Coordinator of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended this workshop. The workshop was conducted in Seminar hall (CSD-320) of Electrical Department. More than 70 participants from various states of India participated in the workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to take the feedback from all the QEEE Coordinators and Local Faculty members regarding QEEE Phase III and to discuss the positives points, negatives aspects and remedies of various problems. The workshop was an open house and all participants participated very enthusiastically.

Inauguration Session (10:30 A.M. - 01:00 P.M.)
The Inaugural session was started by Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala (Chairman- QEEE Program) and asked the feedback from the participants. Participants from Colleges across India like College of Engg. Pune, Govt College of Engg. Bargur, Poornima College of Engg. Jaipur, Dean Bandhu Chottu Ram College of Engg. Murthal, Govt College of Technology, Coimbatore, LNM Institute of Information Technology Jaipur, Pondicherry College of Engg, Pondichery, Dronacharya Group of Institution, Greater Noida along with Dr. Jitender Kumar shared their feedback with QEEE team.

All Coordinators shared their feedback and some of the suggestions suggested were:
• Better Communication with QEEE Coordinator should be made
• Quiz &assignment should be made available in Course pack
• Time table scheduling should be done well in advance for QEEE Phase – IV
• Re-scheduling of classes should be avoided
• Single point of contact is required in QEEE team for all problems

Everyone was in agreement that this is a wonderful program of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt of India and is serving the purpose of quality enhancement in engineering education. Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala told his team to look into all the suggestions made by the participants and to execute them in Phase-IV.

After taking the feedback from the participants Prof. Jhunjhunwala shared his feedback and asked the reason of Non Attendance in many courses at various remote centers. He said that there is no reason of No or Less attendance at any center because the colleges themselves have registered for various courses and knew the schedule well in advance. He requested all the colleges to look into attendance. Prof. Jhunjhunwala also asked colleges to go for autonomy and said “Quality implies autonomy” and informed the participants that in coming 10 years all technical colleges will have to become autonomous.

After his feedback session, it was an open house session. Many points were discussed any finalized for Phase IV. Some of the points discussed and finalized were:
• Duration of classes will remain 05+01 = 06 hours.
• Course Pack & forum will be used more effectively.
• Local faculty to discuss the syllabus with IIT Faculty through A-view.
• Courses in programming in vernacular language will be offered.
• At least two courses with Lab (Including DSP) will be offered in Phase IV.
• Probably 25 courses will be offered across various discipline in phase-IV.
• Timings of the classes will be 10 AM – 12 Noon and 02 PM – 04 PM (Dr. Jitender Kumar and other coordinators from North India raised the issue of timings and requested to prepone the timings of afternoon session but coordinators from rest of India insisted for 02 PM - 04 PM timings).
• Session by industry experts (01 session probably for one discipline).
• English classes for Saturday to be continued.
• Course for Mathematics concepts to be offered probably in summer time and one faculty member has to oversee.
• Timings of Phase IV will be probably from 01 Aug- 15 Oct 2015.

Prof. Jhunjhunwala, at the end of session distributed the appreciation certificates of 100% attendance to various colleges. Dronacharya College of Engg. Gurgaon received 04 certificates for Computer Organization & Architecture, Computer Network, Analysis by Slope Deflection Method and Frequency Domain Analysis. The program ended with the vote of thanks by team members of QEEE and distribution of certificates to all participants.
