Industrial Visit to Centre For e-Governance

Twenty three students along with faculty member Dharmendra Pal of Information Technology Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon visited to Centre For e-Governance, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) Electronics Niketan, New Delhi on 24th March 2015.

The purpose of this Industrial visit was to introduce the students with various e-Governance projects initiatives taken by Government of India under the collaboration of CDAC, National Informatics Center, and Media Lab Asia.

Mr. Sunil Kumar, Project Manager, Center for e-Governance discussed with the students about National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) has been formulated by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY) and Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). The Union Government approved the NeGP, comprising of 27 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs).The NeGP aims at improving delivery of Government services to citizens and businesses with the vision: "Make all Government services accessible to the common man in his locality, through common service delivery outlets and ensure efficiency, transparency & reliability of such services at affordable costs to realize the basic needs of the common man."

He explained the various mission mode projects (MMPs), which are implemented by Central Government and State government. The various projects implemented by central Government are Banking, Central Excise & Customs, Income Tax (IT),Insurance, Passport, Pension, etc. Various State level projects are Agriculture, Commercial Taxes, e-District, Land Records(NLRMP), Municipalities, e-Panchayats, Road Transport, PDS, Education and Health. Various projects implemented in collaboration with Central Government and State Government are CSC, e-Biz, e-Courts, e-Procurement and India Portal etc.

Mr. Aamir, Project Engineer discussed about Aadhaar-based biometric system for attendance in all government departments and state-owned entities spread across Delhi. Department of electronics & information technology (DeitY) has so far implemented Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) in 54 government locations in Delhi that requires fingerprint-based attendance for employees entering into the office premise. Each device takes 2 seconds to establish biometrics identity and gives real-time access.

Mr. Sunil Kumar, Project Manager also conducted an online quiz based on the understanding of e-governance projects. Mr. Saurabh Kumar received First Prize, Mr. Kunal Ahuja received Second Prize and Ms. Lubna Siddiqui received the Third Prize in the competition.
