ROBOTICS TECHNOPHILIA COMPETITION

Robotics Club organized a two- day International Robotics Competition & Workshop on Accelerobotix in association with Technophilia systems & IIT Bombay on 12 and 13 Feb 14.

This was the Workshop which is best suited to beginners especially for first and second year students who are taking their first step towards robotics. It basically dealt with designing various kinds of electronic sensors and circuits and their use in making autonomous robots using a microcontroller and hand gesture controlled robot using acceleration sensor. After the workshop, students came up with a Hand gesture controlled robot, Wired Robot, Wireless Robot, Line tracking robot, Sound operated robot and Computer Controlled Robots .

Two day workshop was divided into four sessions each of three hours divided into theory and hands on sessions. In first session, students got acquaintance with the basics of electronics and various sensors used. Second session dealt with the basics of a microcontroller especially the AVR series and ATMega16, which is one of the most powerful and widely used 8 bit micro controllers. Session 3 & 4 provided hands-on session for development of a hand gesture controlled bots, Line tracking robot, Sound operated robot and Computer Controlled Robots.

At the end of this workshop, a competition was organized among the 30 participating students and 12 winners were awarded with merit certificates. Further, they will get an opportunity to participate in the National round of robotics competition (NRC) to be held at  IIT Bombay in Mar 14.
