Ms. Kritika Chaudhry, Assistant Professor (Information Technology Department), Ms. Deepti Chahar, Assistant Professor (Electronics & Communication Engineering Department) and Ms. Chesta Agarwal, Assistant Professor (Computer Science & Engineering Department) from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a one-day workshop on NPTEL Online Certification Courses organized by NPTEL in association with NASSCOM at IIT, Madras on 25th February,2014.

NPTEL is the initiative of Ministry of HRD, Govt. India which provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Science and Humanities streams. The mission of NPTEL is to enhance the quality of engineering education in the country.

In his inaugural address Mr. Andrew Thangaraj, NPTEL coordinator, IIT, Madras emphasized on providing the details of the “First Online Certification Course by NPTEL”. Another expert Dr. Sandhya Chintala, Vice- President NASSCOM discussed the growing expectations of the IT industry from the fresh graduates in Programming skills. She also spoke about the NASSCOM initiative in supporting the budding entrepreneurship ideas.

The workshop also witnessed the other distinguished speakers from top employers like Cognizant, TCS etc. They shared that the Online Certification offers highly researched and comprehensive matter on Programming, Data Structure and Algorithms.

The Course developed B. Tech students aims to cultivate the Analytical Problem solving approach to programming in the students rather than restricting their horizon to syntactical knowledge.

Prof. Shankar Balachandran , Prof. Hema A. Murthy and Prof. Narayan are the key instructors of on line courses which will be followed by proctored certification conducted by TCS- iON group and, IITM.
