IEEE Day Celebration Events 2015


6th - 7th Oct 2015


IEEE Student Branch of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon celebrated IEEE DAY 2015 on 6th - 7th Oct 2015 in the college premises. The event was supported by PR & P Standing Committee; IEEE Delhi Section.120 participants participated in the event.

The objective of the event was to provide a platform & network for student members to interact with one another.

The program was inaugurated by Principal Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad on 6th October. The Student Branch Counselor Prof. (Dr.) K.K. Singh introduced to the students about IEEE and various benefits of having IEEE membership and importance of such type of membership for learning the advancing technology. He added about the technological advancements that IEEE has brought into the society and serving for the society.

The celebration was divided into events, description of which is detailed below:

1. Online Quiz Contest

First event was an online quiz contest conducted on 6th Oct 2015. Students from all the departments participated in the online quiz contest. Quiz was basically an aptitude - cum - technical based platform to check the technical knowledge of the students, at the same time, exposing them to solve various course related questions.

2. Robotics Workshop

A Robotics workshop was conducted on 6th Oct 2015 with an objective to provide platform to the students for project making and technology assistance in the field of robotics and embedded systems to the students. It was designed as per market survey to provide the technologically advanced concepts to the students. Students were demonstrated about working of Arduino Uno board with the help of which various robotics related projects can be implemented. Moreover, for the benefit of student fraternity, an industrial exposure along with facts & figures of the robotics field were provided. 56 students were briefed about basic concepts of robotics and embedded systems. The workshop was conducted by our two faculty experts. Mr. Chandra Shekhar Singh (Associate Prof., RAS Advisor) from EEE Department and Ms. Monika Phulia (Assistant Prof., WIE Advisor) from EEE Department conducted the theoretical & hands - on sessions on Robotics and explained its applications to the students. A project competition was also organized on the day for all the participants.

3. Industrial Visit

On 7th October 2015, 20 students from EEE, ECE & ECS department visited TATA Power Ltd. DDL Training Centre, New Delhi. It was a 108MW Generation Gas Power Plant. At the plant, students were briefed about the working conditions and operations carried out in a plant. Students’ visit proved to be very useful as they got to know about the working and schematic of the gas power plant.

The two day event ended with the prize distribution to the winners of quiz and project competition and certificates to the volunteers.

The event was celebrated with full enthusiasm by all student members and other mentors of various chapters & societies.
