25th August 2016

A live streaming session was conducted by Google on “A Special Problem Solving Session on Google APAC” on, 25th August 2016 to discuss the common slipups, by the students during the programing competition. Students of fifth and seventh semester, from Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the online session.

Google Code Jam is an international programming competition hosted and administered by Google. The competition began in 2003 as a means to identify top engineering talent for potential employment at Google. The competition consists of a set of algorithmic problems which must be solved in a fixed amount of time. Competitors may use any programming language and development environment to obtain their solutions, but top places usually require careful preparation of fast utility libraries for common tasks such as IO, data structures, and prepared solutions for typical classes of problems just as in other programming competitions. APAC Test is powered by Google Code Jam, using the same scoring system, mechanics and etc.

Mr. Akashdeep, Mr. Deepak and Mr. Ajay, from Google, explain the common mistakes usually done by the students on Key Data Structures and Algorithms with the help of previous contest sample question. Mr. Akashdeep cleared some common mistakes done by the participants and discussed some practice methods to improve the performances.

After the presentation of Mr. Deepak and Ajay, a question and answer session was held, in which all the participants of webinar cleared their doubt. In the End, Mr. Akashdeep recommended few books to the students for APAC. It was an information session for the students who are willing to participate in Google APAC 2017, so that the common mistakes are not repeated during the programming competition.
