FLUID MECHANICS

Mr. Tanvir Singh, Assistant Professor from Mechanical Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a “One week coordinators workshop on Fluid Mechanics” organised under National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt of India) and conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, West Bengal from 11th to 15th March 2014.

The main objective of this workshop was to provide in-depth knowledge about the Fluid Mechanics in order to train teachers on the methodology to be followed in the T10KT Project.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Sundararajan. T, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT, Madras as a guest of Honour. Prof. Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur presided over the function.

An introductory speech on fluid mechanics was given by Prof. Shankar Kumar Som and Prof. Suman Chakarborty. During the one week workshop, eminent Professors of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur delivered lectures on Fluid Mechanics, kinematics of fluid flow, Dynamics of in-viscid flow, and Viscous flow along with the tutorial session that was carried out.

Prof. B. Bhattacharya talked on Pedagogy and Prof. C.S. Kumar gave a brief overview about the virtual labs in Mechanical Engineering. In the last day of the highlights were shared by Prof. Ravi Dutta.

The workshop was concluded with brief discussion about the some basic fundamental concepts of fluid mechanics and their future prospects in a mechanical as well other streams of engineering.

The workshop was informative and interesting to enhance the learning on Fluid Mechanics.
