Debate & Elocution Contest

Organised by GAIL India Limited, NCR

On 7th November 2016, six students Harshita Singh (Roll No. 19063), Shivam Pandey (Roll No 19144), Chirag Khurana (Roll No 19035), Vertika (Roll No. 18181), Nikhil Kumar (Roll No 18107) and Kartik Khanna (Roll No.18080) from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the Debate & Elocution Contest on the topic “Corruption can be eradicated through public participation rather than through strict laws” and “Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating corruption" respectively.

 

The competition was organised by GAIL India Limited, NCR Gas (O & M) at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida as medium of observing Vigilance Awareness Week - 2016. The basic objective of this week was to create a corruption free society.

 

Inaugurating the contest Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Bagga, Director, DGI, Greater Noida expressed that the observance of the week creates awareness among people and organisations to check corruption at every level. He further shared that such programs would inspire the system to implement preventive measures effectively, so that transparency and accountability can be maintained in the governance.

 

On the occasion, the Chief - guest Hon’ble Mr. R K Bhilwaria, DGM (HR), GAIL India Limited encouraged the students to participate in such type of competitions which could make them aware about corruption which is anti - poor, antidevelopment, anti-growth, anti - investment and inequitable. The Guest of Honour was Rtn. Kapil Gupta, President, Rotary Club Green Greater Noida who made the participants aware on various aspects of Gas pipeline and urged to remain vigilant for the safety of the society. Other dignitaries of the day were Mr. Surendra Kumar, SM (O & M), GAIL India Limited; Mr. A K Kaushik, SM (F & Q), GAIL India Limited; Mr. Abhinav Pandey, Manager ( O & M), GAIL India Limited; Mr.Ajay Kumar, PA To OIC GAIL India Limited; Ms.Dalima Singh, DM (Inst,), GAIL India Limited; Rtn. Mukul Goel, Rotary Club Green Greater Noida; Rtn.Vinod Kasana, Rotary Club Green Greater Noida etc.

 

The students from other colleges also participated in the competition. The candidates showed their spirit with full zest. Vertika (Roll No.18181) got the First position in the Debate contest (Hindi) ; Nikhil Kumar(Roll No.18107) was on second and Harshita Singh (Roll No. 19063) procured third position in English debate. Chirag Khurana Roll No.18080) attained the first position in Hindi Elocution whereas Kartik Khanna (Roll No.18080) bagged the second position.
