The college took a plunge into the immensely refreshing and challenging field of Civil Engineering with the setting up of the Civil Engineering Department. The academic activities are so planed so that Department emphasizes deep understanding of fundamental principles, development of creative ability to handle the challenges of Civil Engineering. Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the construction and design of public and private sector works such as bridges, roads, dams and buildings. This course provides the knowledge of fluid mechanics, building materials, surveying,
	building planning, structural analysis, engineering geology, concrete technology, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, municipal or urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, coastal engineering, surveying, and construction engineering.
	Scope of Civil Engineering is thus very wide to keep the society and humankind safe, inhabitable and accessible. A Civil Engineer needs to tackle not only contemporary problems but also learns how to responsibly manage land & water resources. He requires not only a high standard of engineering knowledge but also managerial and administrative skills. The subject matter of Civil Engineering is very diverse. The programme is therefore focussed on three themes structures, water & transport i.e. main components of the infrastructure.
	Civil Engineering is the segment of the engineering profession that provides the basic needs of humanity from the beginning of the civilization. Civil Engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields essentially dealing with roads and highways, railways, bridges, tunnels, airport runways and terminal, all kinds of structures, water supply, sewerage systems, irrigation canals, dams, power plants, disaster management etc. It therefore focuses on planning, development, design, construction and maintenance of the entire physical infrastructure required for sustainability of the society.
