STAAD PRO PROGRAM (STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND DESIGN SOFTWARE)

29TH SEPTMEBER 2015

Department of Civil Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a program “STAAD PRO” for final year Civil Engineering students on 29th September 2015 to equip students with technical knowledge. The program was designed for student to gain experience in concrete and steel designs and analysis of various civil engineering components using this software. Some of the important design that were discussed include design of water tanks, stair case, shear wall, retaining wall, dynamics analysis, member truss, overhead transmission, line towers and foundation design.

STAAD PRO V8i is a design software by Bentley Systems which deals with the design basics and performing analysis using command reference. STAAD PRO features a very simple and state of the art interface which supports most modern finite element method tools. STAAD PRO V8i includes some of new enhanced features which had made the analysis and designing process more easy. STAAD PRO V8i now integrated with ISM which means you can import /export projects from/to STAAD PRO V8i. Architect 3D platinum and STAAD Foundation is another application included in V8i. Architect 3D platinum is an application that can be used for designing your home and garden in 3D. The course also covered some essential and necessary topics Earthquake Design, Static and dynamic analysis, Introduction to FEM, Slab Design, Steel Design and STAAD Foundation Advance.

All students were awarded the completion certificate of STAAD PRO V8i from CADD Center. The one day program was very knowledgeable and fruitful for the students as the students came to know about recent software’s and topics which will be helpful for them in future.
