The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon energetically hosted the “Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp”. The event was hosted in association with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad from 4th – 6th February, 2016,

DAY 1: 04/02/2016

The event started with a welcome address by Honorable Principal, Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K Prasad who has a vision that every student of the college should be able to participate in the process of making our country achieving economic stability and sustainable development. The event then was followed by an expert session of E-leader of E-Cell of the college and then visits to create awareness at schools as part of EAC. This three day program was conducted to provide a learning environment and help them indulge in activities that would motivate them to face a real world challenges.

The session had participants from different branches of Engineering. The expert session started by an introduction to “What Entrepreneurship Is”, by Mr. Anurag Vats (16029). He started his talk by stating that Entrepreneurship is the process of designing, launching and running a new business i.e. a start-up company offering a product, process or service. India as an economy is constantly achieving new heights and is amongst the most fast paced developing and advancing economies of the world. New startups and other new business undertakings by fresh college graduates especially with engineering and technical background has been one of the most contributing factors for the same.

A way of creating awareness is to reach out to the maximum people. As a part of this awareness, it is important to interact with more and more people and brief them on entrepreneurship. An important facet of this was visiting different schools by our students whom we aptly call the E-leaders. The students visited schools to interact with school students and infuse an idea of entrepreneurship into the young India and also to gain great ideas from the ever innovative young minds. In an interactive session with the students various situations relating to creating wealth and jobs by starting some ventures were also discussed. The E-Leaders were actually surprised from the great ideas that came up during discussion from the fertile minds of kids. The visit to school by our E-Leaders was actually a very enriching experience for them in step towards becoming successful entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship has been defined as “the capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit". In pursuit of imparting quality and practical lessons to make students ready to face the challenges of new developing India, once they step out of the safe environment of the college, students are encouraged to develop entrepreneurship skill.

EDC of the college organized visit to Our Lady of Fatima School, Gurgaon and Shaheed Lt. Atul Kataria Govt. Girls high School, Gurgaon. During the visit to the school the E leaders have had a very positive interaction with the young Turks. In one of the discussions, the story of an entrepreneur who was first rejected by Microsoft for even a position of office boy started his career with only $10, by buying a crate of tomatoes and going door to door selling them, doubling his money in less than two hours. He repeated his operation thrice every day. Soon he bought a cart then truck and soon he was a proud owner of his own fleet of vehicles. Five years later the man became one of the biggest food retailers in US. These kinds of stories and live situation discussions were part of the interaction serving dual purpose of inculcating a spark of entrepreneurship into minds of young children who are the future of our country as also infusing new ideas and concept into minds of E Leaders who soon will be the future of India.
