Dronacharya College of Engineering celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 2nd April 2016 at the College campus. The event was celebrated with full fanfare pomp and show. Festivity races under various categories marked the final day events.

As a precursor to the events on final day, the students had participated in a number of league matches on a knock out basis like Cricket, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, in both boys and girls category. |
The winning team of ECE - Department [Cricket boys] had mesmerized the audience throughout the exciting cricket league matches; they played very well with a streamlined strategy and team spirit. The girls’ teams were not behind. They also played with full potential. The cricket (Cricket-Girls) team of CSE Department won the match and created a joyful ambience around.

During the Volley Ball matches, the team of IT Department [Volley Ball boys] redefined their team-spirit, enthusiasm and focus and won the final match. |
In the final day events, Ms. Prerna, winner [Lemon Race Girls], Mr. Bhanu , winner [100 m. Race Boys], Ms. Varsha, winner [100 m. Race Girls], Mr. Bhanu, winner [Sack Race Boys], Ms. Varsha, winner [Matka Race Girls] were the centre of attraction. |
Honorable Chairman of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Dr. Satish Yadav presided over the Sports Function as Chief Guest. He mentioned that sports are deemed to be most important among co-curricular activities. While encouraging sports spirit in students, he shared the invaluable benefits of sports activities such as improved fitness and development of social and team - building skills. He encouraged the students to avail of the numerous sporting opportunities to grow socially, emotionally, and physically as the students learn discipline, responsibility, social-interaction, co-operation, accountability on the sports ground. He also appreciated the caliber, enthusiasm and the spirit of sports in students of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon. |
Then,Honorable Principal Prof. (Dr.) Karanjit Singh appreciated the students for participating in sports with a great zest and zeal. Addressing the students, he expressed that extra-curricular activities help to develop the all-round personality of participants to face the undaunted task and turbulent world of future. He emphasized that experience and accolades gained through many of these activities also help during internships to boost self-confidence and sense of achievement. |
Dr. Satish Yadav, Chairman gave away prizes, trophies and shields to the winners and runners up. The sports function was concluded with a vote of thanks by Sports - in - charge Prof. Rajiv Gupta, HOD, ME Department. The sports day was celebrated with full enthusiasm by all the students and staff members of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon. |
