FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR EFFECTIVE TEACHING AT IIT, KHARAGPUR

 

 

Mr. Ashok Kumar Associate Professor from Applied Sciences & Humanities Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a three day short term course (STC) on “Faculty Development Programme for Effective Teaching” from 10th to 12th July 2014, organized by Centre for Educational Technology, IIT Kharagpur.

 

The aim of this Short Term Course was to design and develop learner-centric curricula, which is suitable for outcome based learning through a specially designed web tool. A team of experts, trainers and a wide section of faculty helped the participants to enhance their teaching-learning pedagogy with hands on training to create the modified version of teaching documents.

 

The experts Dr. P. K. Bhowmick, Mr. S. Nayak, Prof. A.K. Ray, Prof. S.K. Som, Dr. S. K. Das Mandal, Dr. Tamali Bhattacharya shared their views on pedagogical methods, intellectual calibers and research methodology etc. They also imparted valuable information on other topics like role of administrator in moodle, Installation of operating system, Window server 2003, Installation of web-server like WAMP, Role of Teacher etc.

 

The program was useful as the participants learnt how to enhance their ability, skills and attitude towards the demonstration of each course. This platform of renowned academicians also provided them a mode to find the required learning resources as well as an opportunity of self-assessment.

 

The STC was concluded by the coordinator Prof. Bani Bhattacharya.
