INTERNATIONAL INDO-FRENCH CIMPA RESEARCH SCHOOL (CRS)

Dr. Binay Kumar, Assistant Professor from Applied Sciences & Humanities Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the International Indo-French CIMPA Research School (CRS) on Generalized Nash Equilibrium Problems, Bilevel Programming and MPEC organized by the Department of Mathematics, Delhi University, Delhi in collaboration with international body CIMPA from 25th November to December 6th, 2013. The aim is to enhance Mathematical knowledge in different specialized area particularly three classes of problem: the generalized Nash equilibrium problems, the bilevel problems and the Mathematical Programming with Equilibrium Constraints.

In his inaugural speech Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Singh, the Vice Chancellor,Delhi University, Delhi expressed that “This is good opportunity for young Mathematician to get exposure of new area which are going to serve and shape the various socio economic development using Mathematics as a tool”. The participants were selected from different countries Italy, China, Magnolia, Ethiopia, France, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Chile , Philippines and India.

The distinguished experts across the globe like Dr. Didier Aussel (University of Perpignan, France); Dr. Jonathan Borwein (University of Newcattle, Australia) ; Prof. Stephen Dempe (TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany); Dr. Joydeep Dutta (IIT Kanpur, India); Prof. Francisco Facchinei (Univ. Sapianza, Roma, Italy); Dr. Ren Henrion (Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics, Berlin, Germany) and Prof. Alejandro Jofre (CMM, Santiago, Chile) etc delivered lectures on Generalized Nash Equilibrium Problem: existence, uniqueness and reformulations; Bilevel Programming: Existence of optimal solutions and optimality conditions; Introduction to Bilevel Programming and MPEC problems;Numerical analysis of Generalized Nash equilibrium; Dual optimality conditions for MPECs; GNE/MPEC in Electricity Markets etc.

They also presented the modern tools of variational analysis and optimization used to analyze these three class of difficult problems. Applications and numerical approaches will play a central role in the proposed developments.

The intensive program was very much useful to the scholars of Mathematics as they got an opportunity to discuss various concepts and analysis related to Mathematical applications.
