On the occasion of International Volunteers day-2014 at Kudsia Ghat, New Delhi a total of 24 NSS volunteers from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon along with the NSS Program Officer Mr. Ashok Kumar and the Faculty coordinators Ms. Maneela Tuteja, Mr. Hari Mohan Rai participated in the Clean Up River Drive named as “Yamuna Shramdaan” on 14th December 2014.

The drive was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, United Nations Volunteers, United Nations Development Program as a response to the call of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, to Swachchha Bharat.

During this occasion Ms. Lise Grande, United Nations Resident Coordinator; Dr. Girish Kumar Tuteja, Advisor, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports; Dr. Harminder Kaur, Program Advisor, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Mr. Rajiv Gupta, Secretary of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, New Delhi encouraged the volunteers to contribute more for social welfare.

Over 3,000 volunteers including the volunteers of NSS, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, artists, working professionals, entrepreneurs, policy makers, activists, media representatives, athletes and common people participated with great enthusiasm in this drive with a mission to clean the river, Yamuna.
