Orientation Programme For International Test Of English Proficiency

 

 

Applied Sciences & Humanities Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organised a one-day Orientation Programme for International Test of English   Proficiency (iTEP ) on 11th September 2014. iTEP is the Internationally recognised  English assessment body which is also accredited by Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute (ACEI), Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET), National Business Education Association (NBEA), American Association of Intensive English Program (AAIEP), Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT) and Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

Inaugurating the programme Hon’ble Principal Prof.(Dr.) M. N. Hussain shared that communication skills like  Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills are essential for an engineer which aspire them  to carry out his/her professional practice in the global arena. Language and communication skills are recognised as important elements in the education of the modern engineer.

Presenting his views, the Guest- Speaker Mr. Sarath S. Country Manager iTEP said that for non-native English users, English is very important because it is widely spoken all around the world. He reiterated that  “In the war of talent, English is the new differentiator”.  During the sessions, he also shared the test content of reading, listening, grammar, writing, speaking and  imparted the strategies related to its  preparation.

He also  described wide acceptance of  iTEP Certifications by giant corporate like Microsoft, Adidas, IBM, Philips, JP Morgan, McDonald’, Oxford Associates, Axis Bank, Kaplan Online Uni,. ING, FM Global (Brazil), BASF (Germany), Saudi French Bank, 3M, Catterpilar, Pfizer, BEMCO and many such MNCs in their training and recruitment.

During the Orientation Programme the Registrar, all HoDs, the Convenor Prof.(Dr.) Sri Krishan Yadav and faculty members of Applied Sciences & Humanities Department were present.

More than 500 students attended the orientation programme and became well versed with its significance and execution leading to acquire better communication skills preferably industry oriented.
